HSEB tells HSS, Plus Tow colleges to abide by rules

The Higher Secondary Education board warned of action against the Higher Secondary Schools and Plus Two colleges that have been charging exorbitant free from students and parents in the name of entrance examination of grade XII.
The Supreme Court and the Ministry of Education ha earlier directed not to charge more than Rs. 25 for entrance exam from and more than Rs. 1000 for entrance exam, but some colleges in Kathmandu Valley have been charging additional fee as 'service charge'.

HSEB Voice Chairman Chaitanya Sharma said the HSEB would issue a public notice, asking all concerned not to charge more than Rs 125 for entrance from and entrance exam. He said that HSEB/Plus Two colleges that have already charged more than Rs 125 must return the additional amount.

A joint statement issued by student unions said that the government should control the practice of arbitrarily changing and tuition fees. The student unions have also drawn the attention of the Minsitry of Education and HSEB to scholarship selection process urging them to make it transparent and increase it to 10 percent from five percent.

There are 3,658 HSEB / Plus Two colleges across the country. The HSEB has also directed HSS/Plus Two colleges to distribute admission forms for two weeks from the date of SLC results. Which are already announced.
